Traffic cops challan 37 school buses

CHANDIGARH: Continuing the drive against violations made by buses and other vehicles ferrying school students, the UT traffic police today issued a total of 124 challans, including 37 to school buses.

Continuing the drive against violations made by buses and other vehicles ferrying school students, the UT traffic police today issued a total of 124 challans, including 37 to school buses. According to the traffic police, four nakas were laid on different roads in the city and challans were issued for traffic violations and under the State Transport Policy for Students (STRAPS) of the UT Administration.

The police said a school bus was impounded. Meanwhile, 29 autos and 18 taxis were challaned during the drive. The police also issued 23 challans to two-wheeler riders caught without helmet. Besides, 17 challans were issued for other offences.

This was the second drive in the past four days. On July 19, the UT traffic police had issued as many as 159 challans. Of these, 116 were issued to vehicles carrying school students.
