Woman, paramour booked for murder

Rajpreet Singh Sonu (35) of the nearby Palasaur village, who was “poisoned and strangulated by his wife in connivance with her paramour six days ago”, died at Guru Nanak Dev Hospital (GNDU), Amritsar, on Sunday.

The local city police have registered a case under Sections 302, 328 and 34 of the IPC against Simran Kaur Babbu and her paramour Lovepreet Singh of the same village, 6 km from here.

The accused, Simran Kaur, is said to have served dinner laced with some poisonous substance on the night of July 17. The food was served to her kids, namely Navneet Kaur (11) and Manmeet Singh (9), who were saved. Rajpreet, after consuming poisonous food, was also strangulated by the accused.

Simran Kaur fled the spot with Lovepreet after the crime. Rajpreet Singh was admitted to a local hospital from where he was referred to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar.

Rajpreet Singh died during treatment on Sunday. SHO Chander Bhushan, Inspector, has been investigating the case. The accused are absconding, the police said.
