Three arrested for murdering driver

A 45-year-old man died in an incident of road rage after he was assaulted by three persons outside an eatery in SGM Nagar here last night following an argument. Three persons have been arrested.

Lakhmi Chand, a driver, was assaulted after he entered into a heated exchange with a person whose vehicle had hit his motorcycle. Both of them had come to SGM Nagar to take food around 10 pm on Sunday night. The accused, accompanied by two other persons, allegedly started beating him. Lakhmi Chand fell down and succumbed to his injuries before local residents could take him to hospital. Though several residents were present when the incident happened, no one tried to intervene to save Lakhmi Chand, a resident of Adarsh Colony of the NIT locality here.

Sube Singh, police PRO, said that the detailed information and identity of the accused would be revealed after the initial probe. — TNS
