Udhampur, July 22

National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah has alleged that the statements issued by the J&KPolice chief Dilbagh Singh with regard to the safety of the Amarnath pilgrims were an attempt to create fear among these people.

Regarding the recent statement of Governor Satya Pal Malik that the militants should kill the corrupt people instead of fellow Kashmiris, Farooq told reporters at Udhampur on Monday: “What can I say about the Governor’s statement? He has enough information. That is why he has given this statement.”

Farooq said the police chief was attempting to create fear among people by issuing statements asking pilgrims to come to Kashmir as there was no danger to them. “When there is no danger or fear here, what is the need to issue the statements?” he asked. He said the Amarnath yatra was going on smoothly. — OC
