A nukkad natak series by Jammu’s “Amateur Theatre Group” (ATG), under the aegis of North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Government of India), concluded here on Monday with the presentation of play ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’.
The series was held at different places in the city and was very well received by the audience. The first natak was held on July 18 at Gole Market, Jammu, followed by other shows held at Jagati and Peer-kho, which concluded today at Maharajah Hari Singh Park.
The play “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” highlighted the injustice and cruelty being faced by Indian women of different age groups, especially at their places of work, while travelling late at night and in colleges and schools.
The motive of the theatre group was to extend a message to the society and especially to the youngsters about how women get exploited. “The time has come that each and every women should be empowered in a manner that she may be able to face any type of odds and retaliate,” saide Mushtaq Kak, director of the series.
