BJP’s focus on membership expansion

To boost membership within the BJP and to motivate workers in the state’s membership drive a meetings under the National Organisational Fiesta 2019 were held in Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur under state president Shwait Malik and National co-incharge Dushyant Gautam here today.

Party members laid thrust on expanding the BJP membership in the state.

With a thrust on rendering a membership boost of about 35 per cent to the party, Dushyant Gautam said: “The BJP is the world’s largest party with 11 million members.”

Gautam said the membership drive of the party had been started to strengthen the party structure ahead of the 2022 elections.

Malik said ushered in Surinder Mahey and Dr Swaran Singh as BJP members - amidst inviting applause from the audience on the occasion.

Dr Swaran Singh’s membership from the party was withdrawn by the party. Mahey is a former mayor and former member of the Congress. Not getting a ticket from the Congress in 2017 Vidhan Sabha Elections, Mahey had contested as an independent from Jalandhar West, losing the seat.

Enumerating on various schemes launched by the Modi Government, Malik said efforts were being made to increase the leadership of the party for which a day would be dedicated to every group, including students, farmers, doctors and advocates etc.

He said the idea was to propagate the BJP brand in every home and make its membership most for every state of the party.

He said the party was also making efforts to ensure knowledge sharing through digital technology to every worker of the party on par with senior leadership.

Minister Som Parkash, organisation secretary Dinesh Kumar, state general secretary Rakesh Rathor, Dayal Singh Sodhi, district president Raman Pabbi senior BJP leaders Manoranjan Kalia, Krishna Dev Bhandari, Mohinder Bhagat, State vice-president RP Mittal, former Mayor Sunil Jyoti, state vice president RP Mittal, former chairman, SC Commission, Rajesh Bagga, State Yuva Morcha president Sunny Sharma, among others, were present.
