Chandigarh, July 20

A local court has acquitted three persons in an attempt-to-murder case.

After the victim as well as the complainant turned hostile in the case, the court acquitted Zora Singh (32), Sukhchain Channa (41) and Rakesh Kumar Raju (40) of the said charge. The fourth accused in the case was never arrested.

According to the prosecution, a case under Sections 341, 323, 34, 506 and 307 of the IPC was registered against the accused on November 6, 2018, on the complaint of Satinder.

In a complaint to the police, Satinder had stated that he and his brother Suresh Kumar were attacked by the accused. He stated that they were in the market when the accused came there and started beating them.

The accused hit Suresh, following which he fell down and remained unconscious. After this, the accused fled the spot. Meanwhile, the victim was taken to a hospital from where he was referred to the PGI here. After registering a case, the police arrested the three accused. However, one more accused, Rakesh Monu, could not be arrested.

During trial, the victim and the complainant retracted from their statements and were declared hostile by the court.
