Teachers of Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh, organised a prize distribution function to mark the culmination of a ‘Read Bapu Dham Contest’ at Kitabghar library-cum-children’s centre of Yuvsatta at Bapudham Colony, Sector 26, today.

Talking about the initiative, Principal Mary Supreeta said through the month-long campaign during summer vacation, the teachers motivated marginalised children to spend their leisure time reading books. The best 10 readers were honoured. Books for the programme and prizes were donated by teachers of the school.

The first prize was won by Sandhya, a Class IX student of Government Model Senior Secondary School. A birthday party for all girls of Kitabghar born in July was also organised on the occasion. — TNS
