As the district has reported a dengue positive case, the Health Department has asked the residents to take ample precautions to keep the disease at bay. Health officials said that out of 68 suspected cases which have been reported so far, a patient from Ajnala has been tested positive for dengue. Officials said people should take precautions as dengue is easily preventable.

Dr Madan Mohan, District Epidemiologist, said, “The residents must take the issue of water accumulation seriously. They should inspect the surroundings of their residence and workplace once a week.”

He added that apart from checking mosquito breeding, people should wear full-sleeve clothes, use mosquito repellents and ensure that no junk, which can hold water, is left in the open. He said that in case of any problem, patients can contact the nearest health facilities. Usually, water is seen accumulated in empty containers. Mosquitoes breed on stagnant water.
