The Subdivision-Level Kabaddi (national style) Tournament for boys and girls (Under-14, Under-18 and Under-25) organised by the Punjab Sports Department concluded on Thursday.

The event was held to commemorate the 550th Guru Nanak Dev Parkash Purb. On the last day, matches at four divisions in Ludhiana district were played. The Salempura village in Jagraon division besides Jarg village under Payal division, Naresh Chander Stadium, Khanna, and Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Samrala, hosted these matches.

At Salempura, in the boys’ final (U-14), Kamalpura village emerged as winners, while Salempura finished as runners-up and in the girls’ category, Sidhwan Khurd came out winners, whereas Shanti Devi Memorial School, Sidhwan Bet, secured the second position.

In the U-18 section (boys), Sidhwan Khurd and Salempura villages secured the first two positions, while Kamalpura village got the third place. In the girls’ group, Sidhwan Khurd, Kamalpura and Salempura villages secured the first three positions.

Sidhwan Bet romped home victorious in the U-25 group and Salempura village finished at the second spot.

At Jarg village, under Payal sub-division, Shaheed Sipahi Surinder Singh Senior Secondary School, Malout, bagged the top position and Sardar Sant Singh Senior Secondary School, Rauni, secured the second position, while Satya Bharti Senior Secondary School, Rauni, finished at the third place.

At Naresh Chander Stadium, Khanna, in the boys’ U-18 category, DAV Model School, Khanna; Khanna Public School and Manakmajra village secured the first three positions, whereas in the boys’ U-25 group, Bhagat Puran Singh Senior Secondary School, Rajewal, won the first position, while Manakmajra village secured the second place and Khanna Public School, Khanna, finished at the third place.

The winners in all age groups will now compete in the district-level competition to be here held at Guru Nanak Stadium next month.
