Nirbhaya convict on SEC poster!

In a major goof-up, the State Election Commission, Punjab, uploaded the photograph of a convict in the Nirbhaya rape case in its awareness campaign in Hoshiarpur district.

The district officials had put up faces of various celebrities to spread awareness regarding the right to vote. The hoardings installed at different places comprised photographs celebrities like Abhinav Bindra and Gurdas Mann. Among them was the photograph of Mukesh Singh, who was awarded death sentence in Nirbhaya rape case.

When contacted, S Karuna Raju, Chief Election Commissioner, Punjab, said the matter had been brought to his knowledge. “I have sought report for the goof-up,” he said.
