A team of PSPCL employees, which was in Khalra township to check power theft, was held captive for hours by electricity “thieves”.

PSPCL employees were let off by residents only after they assured them that no action would be taken against those found guilty of stealing power. The incident took place on Wednesday and an FIR was registered on Thursday.

As many as 35 residents have been booked on the complaint of Suraj Parkash, SDO, Khalra division, PSPCL. The police said the accused were booked under Sections 341 and 186 of the IPC. Two of the accused have been identified as Dilbag Singh and Gursahib Singh of Pahuwind. The identity of others is yet to be established. — OC
