Guru Purnima was celebrated at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Udham Singh Nagar, today. The day commenced with a special assembly. Rajkumar, Trained Graduate Teacher of Sanskrit, urged students to be altruistic and compassionate towards their gurus.

Inter-house GK quiz

Ludhiana: Green Land Convent School, New Subhash Nagar, organised an inter-house GK quiz for Class IV and V. All four houses gave a tough competition to each other. The participants had to go through rounds consisting of questions related to general science, signs and symbols, sports, states and their capitals and Indian sobriquets.Kirti house stood first, followed by Jagriti house and Shakti house.

Guru Gobind Singh Public School

Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Pakhowal Road, marked Guru Purnima Day by showing gratitude towards their teachers. The celebrations started with a presentation of poems and speeches dedicated to teachers during the morning assembly. Speeches and shlokas, highlighting the importance of gurus in students’ lives, were read out from the Gita. 

Green land sen sec public school

Students and staff of Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, Jalandhar bypass, paid obeisance to Sant Kirpal Singh Jee Maharaj, on the occasion of Guru Purnima. They recited poems in English and Hindi on the importance of gurus in life.Students exhibited their confidence and talent with great zeal and enthusiasm. They were judged on the parameters of confidence, voice modulation, use of props and overall presentation.

Van Mahotsava Week

St Soldier Divine Public School, Golf Link, Hambran Road, commenced ‘Van Mahotsav Week’ with the aim of spreading awareness on the importance of trees. Various activities were planned for the day for the students. A plantation drive and poster-making competition was organised for students to incorporate in them sensitivity towards resources around us. In the plantation drive, students planted saplings of various types of plants. 

Poetry Recitation competition

Guru Nanak Public School, Model Town Extension, organised English poetry recitation competition for the students of LKG and UKG to provide them an opportunity to exhibit their talent through mesmerising poems. Students came forward confidently and narrated their poems with conviction. Principal Mona Singh appreciated the efforts of the tiny tots. 

Anti-Child Labour Day celebrated

To draw the attention of students towards the social evil of child labour, an anti-child labour day was celebrated at Tagore Public School. A special assembly was organised to highlight the issue, during which thought provoking speeches and a poems were presented by the students of Class XI-C. Students also made others aware about various laws passed by the government to eradicate this evil. 

Green colour day organised

To celebrate the colour green, green day was organised at Ryan International School, Dugri. The tiny tots came dressed in pretty green attires. The classrooms were beautifully decorated in green. Students were taught how to identify and recognise green fruits, vegetables, leaves and trees. Many activities and games, pertaining to the colour, were organised for the tiny tots. They made caterpillars, tortoise and parrots with the help of bubble sheets. 

Eat Healthy activity 

Springdale Senior Secondary School organised an activity on staying healthy to highlight the importance of nutritional value of fruits. Through this activity, children were apprised of various vitamins and nutrients present in various fruits. Tiny tots came dressed as fruits to participate in the activity. Teachers guided the students to wash and peel the fruits well before eating. Children also presented poems and stories on the theme.        

Rainy day celebrations 

Amidst the scorching summer heat, showers of monsoon were welcomed at ABC Magical World School, BRS Nagar. Students of LKG and UKG enjoyed the rain dance on foot-tapping music. Colourful balls and balloons raised their excitement. The tiny tots were dressed in their raincoats and relished mouthwatering fried dishes. TNS
