The Pinjore police here today claimed to have arrested one of the accused in the case of misappropriation of funds of HMT Employees Co-operative Consumer Society Ltd.
Mange Ram, a resident of HMT Colony, Pinjore, was arrested and produced in a court, which sent him to judicial custody.
He was among eight employees of Hindustan Machine Tools, including DGM PK Sinha, manager Prem Chand, Daljeet Singh, Deepak Bardwaj, Anil Sharma, Sunil Sethi and Moti Ram, booked by the Pinjore police for misappropriating funds of the society.
The case was registered against the accused after the HMT vigilance department submitted its report.
HMT Ltd was managing the cooperative consumer society. Its president, ex officio member and treasurer are nominated by the unit chief of HMT Ltd. Accordingly, PK Sinha, Prem Chand and Mange Ram were nominated as president, ex officio member and treasurer to look after day to day activities of the society.
The Karmik Sangh (employees’ union) had filed a complaint with the HMT management regarding misappropriation and irregularities in HMT Employees Co-operative Consumer Society. The management referred the matter to the HMT vigilance department for investigation, which confirmed in its report that there were several irregularities and misappropriation of funds in the society.
The interim audit conducted by the audit co-operative department of Haryana Panchkula also confirmed that there had been misappropriate of funds after which the HMT management had transferred PK Sinha, Prem Chand and Mange Ram to other units.
The Pinjore police had registered a case against the accused under Section 420, 406 and 120-B of the IPC.
