Teachers end strike after salary hike

PANCHKULA: Vocational teachers today ended their 34-day-old indefinite strike after the Haryana Government announced to increase their salaries from Rs 18,000 to Rs 23,605 per month.

Vocational teachers today ended their 34-day-old indefinite strike after the Haryana Government announced to increase their salaries from Rs 18,000 to Rs 23,605 per month.

Senior BJP leader Jawahar Yadav, who had been mediating between them and the state government, announced this at the dharna site in Sector 5 and offered juice to the protestors.

Mukesh Gujjar, state president of the Vocational Teachers Association, said Yadav had also announced to take action against private companies and the teachers would directly be appointed with the Education Department on contract.

While expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Yadav and the Education Department for accepting their demands, Gujjar said the government made the public announcement about their demands and should immediately issue the letter in this regard.
