Pvt colleges see maximum admissions to BCA, BCom

Private colleges of the city have been witnessing preferences for courses like BCA, BCom. Likewise, Baba Farid Group of Institutions also saw a large number of admissions to the BSc (Maths) and MCom courses. The college claimed that 90 per cent seats in these two courses have been filled. In Malwa College, BCA and BCom have emerged as the most sought-after courses.

As per the information provided by Baba Farid Group of Institutions, out of the total 3,400 seats offered by the group in various courses, around 2,300 have been filled. An official of the institution said, the BSc (Maths) and MCom courses have been receiving a positive response in this year’s admission for the session 2019-2020.

The admission process for all schools of BFGI – Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology, Baba Farid College, Baba Farid College of Education and Baba Farid College of Management and Technology – will remain open till August 15.

“We start accepting applications for admissions in May-June. We have introduced four new courses this year,” an official said. The newly introduced courses are MCA, PG Diploma in Event Management, PG Diploma in Digital Marketing and PG Diploma in Accounting and Taxation.

On the other hand, another private educational institution, Malwa College, claimed that BCA, BCom continue to be a trend among students. As far as post-graduate courses are concerned, MBA and MCA (lateral entry) has been top preference.

“In a year, around 1,700 new and old admissions take place. The admission process has started from July 10 and will last till July 20, as per the schedule of Punjabi University, Patiala,” an official of the college said.
