Bathinda, July 16

Many city residents took to social media to express their anger and disappointment over waterlogging caused due to rainfall in the city.

Questioning the authorities, they posted photographs and videos of waterlogged streets and roads on their Twitter and Facebook accounts. Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal were mainly on their target. Manpreet represents the city in the state Assembly while Harsimrat in the Lok Sabha.

Taking on the Municipal Corporation for its alleged laxity towards the issue, Bathinda Congress district president Arun Wadhawan wrote on his Facebook account “Help, Help.” He got several replies.

A Facebook user Munish Joshi wrote in Punjabi “Ke haal hai bai aap g nu b help de lod hai, aap ki tow sarkar hai (How are you brother? You also need help? You party is in power in the state)”

Tagging Manpeet and Harsimrat, a Twitter user wrote, “It is annoying and frustrating to see our houses floating in water in Bathinda. The very same city you brag about so much. Damage could be in several crores if the entire city is considered. It is shameful of you to call yourself people.” Another user wrote to Harsimrat “This is what your government did to Bathinda for 10 years.”

While taking a dig, Apandeep Junjeja on Twitter said, “Thanks PMO, Harsimrat Kaur Badal for such a high level of development in Bathinda. Thanks for providing us a swimming pool on our bed side.”

Nikhil Chawla’s wrote, “Hence proved Bathinda The City of Lakes.” Gulab Singh Lahoria on Facebook wrote, “Everyone should buy a boat in the city.”
