Jammu, July 16
The Citizen’s Forum on Monday demanded a separate J&K Medical Supplies Corporation Ltd (JKMSCL) for the Jammu region.
In an appeal to the Governor, forum chief RK Chadha said the JKMSCL had miserably failed to provide quality medicines to health institutions, especially in remote areas of Jammu, at competitive rates in a time-bound manner.
In this matter, the Vigilance Organisation had even registered an FIR against former principal of the GMC and other technical experts and supplier Theon Pharmaceutical of Panchkula, Haryana.
Chadha said the drugs list was being pruned from 850 to 300, leaving the poor at the mercy of private vendors. The forum sought facilities such as MRI, CAT and ultrasound scan at all district hospitals and Vaishno Devi shrine board at nominal fee. — TNS
