The Kimmughat-Chakki Mor road was metalled in 2016, but it didn't last for even six months, given the shoddy work which was executed. In spite of repeated reminders and meetings with XEN, PWD, Kasauli, nothing substantial has been done to repair the road, expect for digging a kuchha drain along the road for a few kilometres. The road is now in a pathetic condition and full of potholes. Since there are quite a few resorts, hotels and cottages along this road, it is being used by several people, including dignitaries from other states. It is also frequented by villagers residing along this road and all are facing problems due to its poor condition. The repair of this road should be taken up at the earliest, as it will reduce the distance for commuters coming to Chandigarh by 14 km. The traffic bound for Kasauli will be diverted from this road, which will reduce the stress on the highway and traffic bottlenecks en route Kasauli will also be minimised.

Give tourists better air link

While it is hot in the plains, tourists from Punjab, Haryana and Delhi etc. prefer spending a few days in hill stations. The nearest hill stations available are mostly in Himachal. Those who can afford and have less time, want to visit by air. There are only three airports in the state — at Kullu, Shimla and Dharamsala, and the one in Dharamsala is the busiest in the state. The airfare for this less than two-hour flight from Delhi is very expensive ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000. During the peak season, the ticket price shoots to Rs 28,000 to Rs 31,000. Most of the national and foreign tourists visit Dharamsala to see the Dalai Lama. The city also attracts cricket lovers, as the cricket stadium organises international matches. If this airport is expanded then due to the start of international flights and landing of larger aircraft, tourists can avail the benefit of reasonable fares. The plan is afoot, but nothing is visible on the ground. Due to similar expensive air travel to other two airports in the state, tourists generally desist from visiting Manali, Shimla, Dalhousie, and divert to other tourist destinations of the country. With all MPs from the state belonging to the BJP, the leaders should urge the Modi government at the Centre to subsidise air fares to Himachal on the lines of J&K and the northeastern states, so that Himachal can have more tourists. This will go along was in boosting the economy of the hill state.

Decade-long wait for demarcation

Ihad filed a case to get my ancestral land divided and demarcated in Kanol village in Dadasiba area of Kangra district. For the past 10 years, the revenue officials have not done the demarcation and division of my land. Generally, the post of Naib Tehsildar, who has to carry out the division and demarcation, remains vacant. The fact that people are waiting for decades to get their land demarcated illustrates the kind of governance in state. I have spent a decade of my life to get my land demarcated and divided, so that I can utilise it, but don't know how long I will have to wait.

Muddy road to Bhagh village

Pedestrians face great inconvenience while walking on the muddy road leading to the mental hospital and Bhagh village in the state capital Shimla during the monsoon, as the road is in poor condition. The state government is unconcerned about the plight of residents, who have a tough time walking on roads. The shoes and clothes of office-goers and school students get dirty while crossing the small muddy patches. We pay tax, but still the government fails to provide any facility .

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
