The recent transfers by the state government have created ripples in bureaucracy and political circles of Kangra district.
In some cases, senior officials were replaced by junior ones. Other officials were posted out without taking rules and regulations into consideration. Many officials have been approaching various centres of power to get their transfer orders revoked.
Sources said the recommendations of the seniormost politicians of Kangra were ignored in the transfers that left them fuming. A senior leader of the BJP said it seemed that some officers had ‘hijacked’ the CM office.
The Opposition also took a dig at the recent transfers. Former minister and senior Congress leader GS Bali said the bureaucracy was demoralised the way the present government was functioning. The hierarchy had been broken. The police morale was down and crime was taking roots. The recent attacks on police in Mandi and Una district were the latest example.
Shanta Kumar said, “Many people had talked to me about certain anomalies in transfers and I will talk to the CM about it.” He, however, refused to comment about the posting of junior officers against the posts of senior.
