Man jumps into canal with son, in-laws booked

A veterinarian belonging to Shajrana village in the district allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Gang canal along with his son.

The victim, Dr Chhinderpal, was reportedly being harassed by his in-laws. The police have recovered a suicide note.

Jagdish Kumar, DSP, said they had booked deceased’s wife Rajpal Kaur, father-in-law Mahinder Singh and mother-in-law Parmjit Kaur, her mother Mohindro Bai and another relative Jagdish Kumar under Section 306 of the IPC.

Sources said Chhinderpal was married to Rajpal Kaur about five years ago. The couple, who had a three-year-old son and a three-month-old daughter, had strained relations.

The sources said Chhinderpal’s in-laws often threatened him that they would get an FIR registered against him.Their bodies were recovered today.
