Jammu, July 9

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) on Tuesday accused the BJP of ‘betraying’ the mandate given by people of Jammu and asked the party to clear its stand on delimitation and abrogation of Article 370.

The Congress took out

a ‘Loktantra Bachao March’ to make people aware of what it says is the failure of the BJP in fulfilling promises made to the people of Jammu region.

Addressing protesters, who raised slogans against the ‘anti-people’ policies of the ruling NDA government at the Centre, PYC president Uday Bhanu Chib demanded that Assembly elections be announced in the state soon.

“BJP is fooling people in the name of delimitation and abrogation of Article 370. The party should take steps for delimitation of Assembly constituencies before holding elections,” he demanded.

Congress leaders asked the BJP leadership to clear its stand on all these important issues, which would have a great impact on the future of the state and the country.

Protesters said the BJP-led NDA government was ruling J&K through Governor rule, which was against democratic principles. “Residents of the state are waiting for an elected government,” Chib said.

Congress activists alleged that the BJP was trying to pull down the government in Karnataka too. “The MLAs are being bought in broad daylight and democracy is being denigrated. The constitution is being trampled upon in Karnataka,” they alleged.

Among others, Vishal Chopra, chief spokesperson for JKPYC, also took part in the march.
