Woman’s body found in Sirhind Canal

SAMRALA: The Machhiwara Police on Monday recovered a body of an unidentified woman from the Sirhind Canal near Garhi Bridge.

The Machhiwara Police on Monday recovered a body of an unidentified woman from the Sirhind Canal near Garhi Bridge.

The body has been kept in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital, Samrala, for identification. Investigation officer Harwinder Singh gave information that some persons on Monday witnessed the body of a woman in the Sirhind Canal near Garhi Bridge and informed the Machhiwara Police.

After receiving the information, a team of cops reached the spot and fished out the body with the help of some persons. The investigating officer said the victim, seemed to be aged around 35 years, was in a blue suit, but the police did not find any document leading to her identification.

The body has been kept in the mortuary for identification for 72 hours and information about the recovery of the body of a woman has been flashed to nearby police stations for identification, the officer said.
