Two unidentified youths took a 67-year-old woman along with them on the pretext of having food and robbed her of gold jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh in Pinjore on Tuesday.

Ashok Lata, a resident of Ratpur colony in Pinjore, in her complaint to the police, stated that she had gone to a bank in Pinjore to get her pension. When she came out of the bank, a youth approached her and asked for money to go to Ahmedabad. She said the youth told her that he used to work in Parwanoo and he did not get his salary for the past nine months. In the meantime, another youth came there and told her that such people speak lie and dupe people.

She said the first youth further asked her to get some food as he did not take meal for the past two days. Another youth told the woman that she could help him in providing food.

Pinjore SHO Mukesh Kumar said the woman alleged that the youths then took her towards a primary health centre where she gave them Rs 200 for food and was asked to sit near a confectionary shop till they had food. However, later the woman was found unconscious. The miscreants took away her gold bangle and two gold rings.

The police said as per initial probe, the suspects might have used some spray or substance due to which the woman fell unconscious. Officials also checked the footage of CCTVs installed near the spot in which two youths were seen talking to the woman and taking her along. A case has been registered. — TNS
