Chandigarh, June 25

The UT traffic police have sought CCTV  footage from Himachal Bhawan in Sector 28, where at least 12 cops were found taking a nap in their uniform during the daytime. The footage will help establish at what time the cops arrived and when they left.

A video in which the traffic cops were seen sleeping at a hall in Himachal Bhawan had gone viral on June 20. On learning about it, the police swung into action and marked an inquiry to establish whether the cops were having rest during duty hours or were off duty. A police official said a comprehensive inquiry was being conducted into the matter.

“The CCTV footage of the past few days will also help reveal whether the cops regularly visited Himachal Bhawan to take a nap,” sources said. The cops, who were seen in the video, were identified and asked to submit their statements.

The video shows the cops sleeping on beds at the hall.
