Chandigarh, June 24
Florence Nightingale, Girls’ Hostel No 8, Sector 25, PU, in association with the Nautical Institute (NI), conducted a fire-safety assessment and awareness programme here today.
The committee, comprising Capt Parvesh Ahluwalia as the chairman, Cadet Simranjit Kaur and Harshit Seaman conducted the programme and delivered a lecture to the staff members. Various fire safety issues regarding hostel mess/canteen, laundering and tailoring sites were discussed.
The programme was to educate the staff and workers about the causes of fires and how to deal and prevent them.
Prof Emanual Nahar, Dean, Students’ Welfare, shared his views about the recent fire accidents in Surat, Gujrat, in which students from private coaching centres died.
The programme was attended by Prof Neena Capalash, Dean Student Welfare (Women), wardens of various hostels, along with the staff and workers of mess and canteen, were present. — TNS
