Chandigarh, June 23
Prominent poets of the region expressed their anguish and concern on the rampant drug menace at Trilingual Kavi Sammelan organised by Joshi Foundation to mark International Drug Day at ICSSR Complex in Panjab University today.
Welcoming the poets and sharing the significance of the event, Vineet Joshi, chairman of the foundation, and Saurabh Joshi, president, said the foundation was engaged in resurrecting the lives of trapped youth and sensitising society to the issue.
Vineet, a social scientist, said poets, litterateurs and artists could spread awareness through their writings.
Sharing the pain of parents of drug addict son, poet Ashok Nadir said, ‘Minnton muradon se jis ko pala hai, Aaj yuun usne aafat mein dala hai’.
Well acclaimed poets, who denounced the drug menace through their ornate poetic verses included Prem Vij, Darshan Buttar, Kana Singh, Shamaz Tabrezi, Ashok Bhandari Nadir, Sushil Dusanjh, Isha Naz, Pragya Sharda, Jagdeep Sidhu, Sushil Hasrat Narelvi and Deepak Sharma Chanarthal. Bhupinder Singh Malik conducted the event.
