Chandigarh, June 23

It will take three to four years for a 24X7 water supply  in Chandigarh, MC Commissioner KK Yadav told the Chandigarh Residents Associations Welfare Federation (CRAWFED).

Yadav today told heads of  sector associations that they would soon get additional water supply from Kajauli. This would help improve  water pressure and the supply time would be increased.

He said for 24X7 water supply, Mani Majra had got the nod. But for the whole city, it would take three-four years.

For a single-point complaint redressal, the local Municipal Corporation would launch a mobile app under the Smart City project.

“All 14 services, including water, birth/death certificate and property tax, being offered by the MC will be on the app. All other departments falling under the UT Administration will also be there. Residents can complain from this common app to all departments in the city,” said Yadav.

He said a call centre would be set up for residents regarding the plaints. Feedback would be sought from the complainants and they would be asked whether their work had been done through the app in the given time or not.

He said they were also looking forward to getting online building approval done. “We are talking to the Estate Office regarding it. If it works out, people need not get physical approval,” he said. The app is expected to take about a year to materialise.
