City marks yoga day

AMRITSAR: A number of educational institutes on Friday marked the International Day of Yoga.

Amritsar, June 21

A number of educational institutes on Friday marked the International Day of Yoga. Management, staff and students of Sidana Institutes celebrated the day with a commitment to contribute towards healthy Punjab.

The NSS unit of the GNDU, Amritsar, celebrated the day at multi-purpose indoor gymnasium. Around 35 volunteers and faculty members from the campus participated in the celebrations.

Amritsar Group of Colleges celebrated the day with great zeal and enthusiasm. A special programme was organised under the guidance of Adarshpal Vig, state president, Vigyan Parishad Panchnad. As many as 450 students and faculty members of DAV International School held a yoga session on its premises.

Shri Ram Ashram Public School celebrated International Yoga Day at the school. The occasion was graced by Balbir Bajaj, president of the school.

Bhavan’s SL Public School also observed the day on its premises. As per the protocol of International Yoga Committee, students performed various asanas under the guardianship of their yoga teachers. They were informed about yoga’s importance, purpose, techniques and benefits. The participants were acquainted with regular yoga practice. Around 1,500 students participated in the session.

Students of DAV College were taught some meditation techniques, yoga asnas during the event.

As many as 280 students and 30 teachers of DAV Public School held a yoga event. — TNS
