A Panchkula resident has been arrested by the Chandigarh police for stealing the mobile phone of a patient’s attendant at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Sector 32.

According to the police, complainant Tejinder Kumar (19), a resident of Kalka, reported that his mother was admitted to the hospital for treatment following which he was staying at the hospital to take care of her.

According to the complainant, on the intervening night of June 5 and 6, he was sleeping in the hospital when a youth approached him and started a conversation. The complainant later slept. The next morning he found that his mobile phone was stolen. The CCTV footage was scrutinised and it was found that the same unknown person had stolen the mobile phone.

The matter was reported to the police. On June 18, the complainant saw the same person roaming in the hospital following which he nabbed him and informed the police. The suspect has been identified as Dharamveer, a resident of Firozpur village, Panchkula. A case has been registered against the suspect at the Sector 34 police station. — TNS
