The Operations Cell of the UT Police has arrested a drug peddler while carrying one-kg of charas in his car. The charas was smuggled from Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, and was meant to be sold in the tricity.
The drug peddler has been identified as Karam Chand, alias Karma, a resident of Mani Majra.
A team of the Operations Cell, led by ASI Baljit Singh, laid a naka on the near Khuda Lahora. The cops stopped a Swift Dzire car heading towards the PGI.
During the search of the car, the police recovered one-kg of charas.
The police said a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the suspect at the Sector 11 police station. The suspect was arrested and his vehicle was impounded.
Police investigations have revealed that the suspect used to procure the contraband from Kullu and further sell it in the tricity.
