Out on walk, retd SI shot at in Rohtak

ROHTAK: Retired Sub-inspector (SI) Hukam Singh Narwal (70) was shot at by two youths on Vaish College road here on Wednesday.

Retired Sub-inspector (SI) Hukam Singh Narwal (70) was shot at by two youths on Vaish College road here on Wednesday. The assailants managed to flee after perpetrating the crime.

Narwal has been admitted to the trauma centre in the PGIMS here.

His condition is said to be out of danger. An old enmity is believed to be the reason behind the crime.

The police have registered a case against two youths.

The incident took place around 8 am when Narwal was out for a walk.

Two youths accosted him and fired from a close range. Subsequently, a passerby informed Narwal’s family, who later took him to the PGIMS.

Kamaldeep Rana, SHO, Shivaji Colony police station, said: “Efforts are underway to nab the accused. One of them has been identified.”
