Muktsar, June 18

The district police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the murder case of an elderly man with the arrest of two persons.

The accused have been identified as deceased’s son Satnam Singh and Amrik Singh. Their accomplice Nirmal Singh is on the run.

Addressing a press conference here, Manjit Singh Dhesi, SSP, Muktsar, said Kashmir Singh of Lambi village had gone missing under mysterious circumstances on his way to Arniwala Wazira village on June 11. The SSP said a mutilated body was found from a drain on June 15.

“During the investigation, it came out that deceased’s son Satnam Singh, along with Nirmal Singh and Amrik Singh, killed Manjit. Satnam had feared that his father might transfer land to his younger brother Swaran Singh, so he killed him. Satnam and Amrik have been arrested and a revolver, two live cartridges, two empty shells of cartridges, a car and a cot used to commit the crime have been recovered,” he said.

The police said they were investigating the matter as the accused had first thrashed a woman as well, who is deceased’s daughter-in-law.
