Yamunanagar: A Tehi village resident, Surender, aka Lali, has been arrested for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. The accused allegedly urinated in a temple in the village on June 12. On the complaint of Dilawar Singh of the village, Surender was booked under Section 295A of the IPC on Monday. Investigating officer Sukhwinder Singh said the accused was sent to judicial custody on Tuesday.  TNS 

Ambala resident nabbed with drugs

Ambala: The district police have arrested a person with banned drugs. The accused, identified as Surjit Singh of Ugala village, was riding a motorcycle, when he was stopped for checking. On search, 840 tablets of lomotil, 120 tablets of alprax and 40 capsules of parvon spas were recovered from him. The accused was booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, the police said.  TNS

Two men caught with 29-gm heroin 

Ambala: The district police have arrested two men with 29-gm heroin. Rohit, alias Janu, of Ambala Cantt was held with 20-gm heroin, while Sonu of Ambala City was arrested with 9-gm heroin. Rohit was sent to two-day police custody. Sonu will be produced in a local court tomorrow. Cases under the NDPS Act have been registered against the accused. TNS

Theft accused sent to 2-day custody

Amabala: The district police have arrested a person for allegedly stealing mobile phones and electronic gadgets from a store near Naraingarh last year. The accused, identified as Kala of Shehzadpur, was sent to two-day police custody. Rai Singh had reported to the police that the accused had stolen around five mobile phones, seven LEDs and two home theatre systems from his store on the intervening night of December 11 and 12. TNS
