Junk dealer nabbed with 720-gm heroin

Special Task Force (STF) of the Ludhiana police today nabbed a drug smuggler and recovered 720 gram of heroin from his possession. He has been identified as Hari Chand, alias Pappi (44), a resident of Deep Nagar, Gill Chowk.

The STF in charge, Harbans Singh, said they got a tip-off that Hari Chand was on the way to supply a huge consignment of heroin to his clients. The STF team set up a naka at Gill Chowk. They signalled an Innova (PB 11 CB 5946) to stop. Its checking yielded the heroin. Hari Chand was going towards Dholewal Chowk.

During preliminary questioning, he revealed that he was into the scrap business and he started smuggling drugs to become rich in a short span of time.

He is already facing four cases of drug smuggling. In one of the cases, he was nabbed by the Delhi police with 1.2 kg of heroin. He had served one and a half years and came out on bail about two weeks ago only.
