The educational programme, Saksham Haryana, being implemented across the state for the last five years has started yielding positive results as 86 per cent of the students are now ‘Saksham’ or grade level competent.

Stating this here today, Project Director, Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates Programme, Rakesh Gupta said 13 more blocks had been announced Saksham, taking the total number of such blocks to 107 after eight rounds of assessment. He said 14 districts were 100 per cent Saksham after eight rounds of assessment over 18 months.

He said multiple initiatives had been adopted such as strengthening the academic review and monitoring mechanism in the state and improving the technology systems of the Education Department. Assessment reforms were being carried out by administering centralised exams, improving data collection and data analysis and reducing cheating, he added.

The state had aimed to become Saksham by achieving grade level competency for 80 per cent of students in the state. Grade level competencies mean that a student in a particular grade knows all skills defined for that grade.
