The police have booked a Longowal resident on a fraud charge. The accused has been identified as Baljit Singh.

Complainant Jatinder Kumar said in 2016, he had wanted to purchase agriculture land and Baljit knew about it. He said in April 2016, Baljit offered to help him purchase three acres in the Longowal area. After visiting the land, he agreed to buy it.

“After informing me that the owner was willing to sell his land for Rs18 lakh per acre, Baljit said the owner wanted Rs12 lakhs in advance. I gave him the amount. But when I did not get land, I demanded my money. Though Baljit returned Rs9 lakh, he did not give the remaining amount,” said Jatinder.
