A man, who had gone missing yesterday, was found murdered in a vacant plot at Altos Colony, Hambran Road, this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Opinder Mahanto (35), a resident of dairy complex. He is survived by his wife and four children.

The in charge of Kitchlu Nagar police post, ASI Sukhdeep Singh, said Opinder had left home around 5 pm yesterday but did not return. The family had searched for him the whole night and later lodged a police complaint.

In the morning, a passerby noticed the body lying in a vacant plot and informed the police. Preliminary probe suggested that Opinder was murdered as his face, chest and head bore injury marks.
