Denied chocolate, girl commits suicide

Samrala, June 16

A minor girl of nearby village Bairsaal Kalan, near Machhiwara, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. The deceased has been identified as Waryam Kaur (16).

Waryam and her two minor brothers were alone at home at the time of the incident.

Waryam had an argument with her brother over ice-cream and chocolate. When her brother did not give her ice-cream, she locked herself in another room and hanged herself from a ceiling fan.

When their parents returned, they broke the door and found her hanging. As per family members, Waryam had left her school after Class VIII as she was not keeping well.

The SHO said investigation was on and they will hand over the body to her parents after the postmortem. — OC
