The owner of a chemist store at Hargobind Nagar has alleged that aides of Congress MLA Sanjay Talwar attacked them and also damaged their store. They have accused the police of not arresting the assailants under political pressure.

The complainant, Harpreet Singh (37), a resident of Basant Avenue, said he owned HS Medical Hall at Hargobind Nagar. Around 8.40 pm yesterday when he, along with his father Inderjit Singh (65), was sitting there, Pushpinder Singh Sibal, alias Bonny, Jaswinder Singh Sibal, Rubal Singh, Deepak, Mandeep and four unknown persons barged into their store and attacked him and his father.

“When my father protested their move, the suspects hit him on the arm with a bottle and also tossed his turban. They damaged my medical store and also hurled bricks inside the store, which damaged medicines worth lakhs. When the local residents gathered there, the assailants fled the scene,” he alleged.

he said Pushpinder was his old friend. On June 14, Pushpinder threatened him with dire consequences following arguments over some issue.

“One of the suspects, Rubal, who claimed himself to be the PA of Talwar, threatened us that the police cannot arrest them as they are the supporters of the MLA. In fact, Rubal warned us that he will get an attempt-to-murder case registered against us with his political influence,” said Harpreet.

The investigating officer, ASI Madan Lal, said a case was already registered against the suspects under Section 323, 452, 427 and 295, IPC. They could not be arrested as the police did not have their addresses, he added.

Talwar denies link with suspects

Meanwhile, Talwar denied the allegations levelled by Harpreet. “Rubal is not my PA. He is a businessman and owns petrol pumps. I have no connection to the case and my name is being dragged into it”.
