Robbed of money meant for ailing daughter

Two unidentified miscreants have been booked by the local police for robbing a Punjab resident of Rs 45,000 and documents. The victim had come to the PGI for the treatment of his six-month-old daughter.

The incident occurred on June 6, but a case in this regard was registered on June 15.

According to the police, the victim, Suraj Parkash, a resident of Pathankot, reported that he had come to the PGI for his daughter’s treatment. His daughter was admitted to the PGI, while he was staying at a gurdwara near the PGI.

On the day of the incident, the complainant returned after attending to his daughter. However, the gate of the gurdwara was closed. While he was waiting near the gate, two miscreants riding a motorcycle arrived at the spot and thrashed him. The duo robbed him of cash, driving licence and Aadhaar card.

The victim raised the alarm. However, the miscreants managed to escape from the spot.

A police official said the victim returned to his home in Pathankot to collect money for his daughter’s treatment and reported the incident on his return. A case under Sections 392 (robbery) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention) of the IPC has been filed at the Sector 11 police station. The police suspect the involvement of some local persons, who visit the PGI campus frequently.
