CM to meet Patel in Delhi

Chandigarh: Amid continued suspense over Navjot Singh Sidhu not taking charge of the Power Department, the much-awaited meeting between CM Capt Amarinder singh and senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel is expected to take place in Delhi in next two to three days.

Chandigarh: Amid continued suspense over Navjot Singh Sidhu not taking charge of the Power Department, the much-awaited meeting between CM Capt Amarinder singh and senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel is expected to take place in Delhi in  next two to three days. As the CM is learnt to have recovered from his ailment, he would go to Delhi to meet senior party leadership, including Patel. Sources said efforts would be made to find an acceptable solution to resolve issues between Capt Amarinder and Sidhu. TNS

Fire in ply factory

Phagwara: Goods worth lakhs were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a ply factory at Mansoorpur village near Goraya in wee hours on Sunday. Fire tenders summoned from Phagwara took five hours to control the fire. Short-circuit in power lines is said to be the cause behind the fire. OC

1 held with illegal firearms

Fazilka: The police have arrested a person with illegal pistol and two live cartridges at Kharaswali village near Fazilka. The police intercepted Kashmir Singh, alias Kashmiri, of Muktsar district and during his search, a .315-bore pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from him. He has booked under the Arms Act. Labourer commits suicide

Abohar: A 41-year-old man reportedly ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in Daulatpura village on the Abohar-Sriganganagar road on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Gurjinder, a labourer. OC
