Srinagar, June 16
After an appeal by aspirants, the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday said it had revised the allocation of centres for Valley students in Kashmir.
The aspirants appearing for National Eligibility Test (NET) from June 20 to 28 had earlier appealed the Governor administration to take up the issue with the NTA as many of them had been allocated centres outside Kashmir, making it difficult for them to appear for the exam.
However, after the issue was taken up by various politicians and the administration, the NTA announced that the centres had been allocated in Kashmir.
“It has been done. The revised admit cards can be downloaded. They (aspirants) are also being informed over SMS and email,” the NTA said in a tweet. The students had said that despite choosing the option of having centres in Kashmir while filling up forms, they were given centres outside the Valley.
The NTA had put students in a difficult situation earlier this year too when it had not set up any exam centres here for National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) and Graduate Aptitude Test Exam (GATE). Hundreds of students missed the GATE exam as they were not able to travel outside due to the road blockade and suspension of air traffic because of bad weather.
Shela Rashid Shora from the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement, had written to the authorities demanding permanent centres for all national competitive exams in Valley so that students do not face any difficulty.
