Five persons have been booked for assaulting a man at Manav Colony near Saketri village here.

The victim has been identified as Satish Kumar, a resident of Popra village in Karnal district and a mason by profession. The incident took place on the intervening night of June 13 and 14.

In a complaint to the police, Banarsi Dall, the owner of the house where the victim was assaulted, stated that he had hired services of Satish for some work at his house.

He said Satish was sleeping on the rooftop when around 2 am he got a missed call from him. Dall called back and Satish asked him to immediately call a doctor. The complainant went to the terrace and found that Satish had suffered a head injury.

With neighbours’ help, Dall took him to the Civil Hospital where doctors referred him to the PGI.

On regaining consciousness, Satish stated that four persons, identified as Sunil, Radhu, Monu and Deepak, along with another unidentified youth, had attacked him.

The Chandimandir police registered a case under Sections 452, 323 and 34 of the IPC and started an investigation.

No arrest has been made in the case yet.
