Thirty-year-old Jaggu of Kathwar village, who was driving back home with sweets for family after purchasing a new motorcycle, lost his life after he was hit head-on by a Fortuner late last evening.
His family rushed to the spot and alleged that the man on the driving seat and two others were all drunk and were driving the vehicle rashly. The villagers alleged that they had handed over the accused to the police, but they allowed them to slip.
Irked, the villagers in protest against the police blocked the Kaithal-Kurukshetra road resulting in long traffic jam, which continued till late night.
Meanwhile, the Sadar SHO reached the spot and persuaded the villagers to lift the blockade and assured them of action against the guilty.
Later, villagers came to know that the accused had taken shelter at the house of their relative in Geong village. On the persuasion of the DSPs, the villagers lifted the blockade past midnight.
The three accused identified as Sandeep, Sahil and Vikram, all residents of Friends Colony, have been arrested.
