Chamba: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chamba, has been awarded the Best KVK NICRA Award– 2019’ by the National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) of the ICAR. The award was received by scientist Kehar Singh Thakur during an annual workshop organised by the TDC-NICRA at the Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad, recently. Kehar Thakur said 121 krishi vigyan kendras from across the nation participated in the annual workshop.
The NICRA, an ICAR-funded project, was launched to address climatic vulnerabilities such as water scarcity, drought, flood, dry spell, delayed monsoon, cold waves, hailstorm, prolonged winter season etc. These climatic vulnerabilities were addressed through different interventions such as introduction of drought-tolerant varieties and inter-cropping. Such interventions were also carried out at Lagga village of the Kiri panchayat in Chamba district. OC
