The Himachal Pradesh Higher Education Department has finalised the fee structure for approved courses run by private universities for academic session 2019-20 on the recommendation of Fee Structure Committee and notified the same.
Different fee structures have been recommended for the same courses run by the universities on the basis of proposals put forward by them. An increase of five per cent in hostel fee has been allowed.
The universities have been told that only the courses approved by Himachal Pradesh Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission (HPPEIRC) will be allowed and refundable caution money will be adjusted in the fee for final year of the course.
The universities will run the courses approved by the UGC, the AICTE, the MCI, the NCTE and other regulatory bodies and also engage faculty as per norms fixed by these bodies.
The fee would be paid in two equal installments and no fee on account of building fund, infrastructure fund, development fund etc. would be charged. Ten 10 per cent seats in every course would be reserved for Below Poverty Line (BPL) / Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) students in “free of tuition fee” category.
The universities would clearly categorise the fee for hostellers and non-hostellers and mention the same in the prospectus. The HP Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Commission would ensure that the university run approved courses, charge fee as notified and engage faculty as per norms established by regulatory bodies.
The universities shall comply with mandatory assessment and accreditation of Institutions of Higher Education and prepare the accounts and balance sheet as per the norms stated in the Act and submit the same to Education Regulator. There are 17 private universities in the state with total intake of about 12,000 students.
