The Bhaderwah Development Authority conducted a successful trial of the water sports activity centre in Doda district. It will be thrown open for tourists in the next two months.
The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has invested approximately Rs 2 crore to develop water sports in Pul Doda on a 35-km lake which has come into existence after the construction of the Baglihar Dam.
Chief Executive Officer, Bhaderwah Development Authority, Rajinder Khajuria said, “To attract more tourists, we are constructing a water sports centre in Pul Doda. It’s a first-ever water sports activity point in this part and will become a major tourist attraction, which will also generate employment opportunities for locals.”
“Two high-speed motorboats have already reached here with a capacity of 14 persons each. We are also setting up security towers, equipped with hooters. Divers will be there all the time during the activity,” he said. “We are outsourcing the water sports centre but administrative control will remain with the authority. We are also developing parks and other sitting arrangements at the centre,” he added.
Bhaderwah is emerging as a major tourist destination of the state.
