The BJP today demanded the termination of services of all employees of J&K Bank “who had been recruited through backdoor” during the previous coalition regime headed by the PDP in which party the BJP was an equal partner.

The BJP raised this demand even though the party itself is facing criticism as names of some its leaders have surfaced for taking “undue” benefits while sharing power with the PDP.

“All backdoor appointees, including relatives and family members of politicians, must be terminated with one stroke as these illegal appointments have been made in J&K Bank at the cost of deserving educated unemployed youth of the state,” general secretary of the state BJP Narendra Singh said, adding, “Influential persons who have taken undue benefit of the bank should also be exposed.”

The BJP leader demanded that the names of all appointees in J&K Bank during the last five years must be made public so as to expose the politicians who have managed recruitment of their relatives/friends through backdoor by abusing their positions.

Meanwhile, newly elected Lok Sabha member from Baramulla and former Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone reiterated his demand for taking action against all defaulters of the bank, including influential politicians of all political parties.

Lone, who has been exposing bungling in the bank for the last two years, told The Tribune that politicians had brazenly abused their positions to get huge loans sanctioned but later became defaulters.
