Jammu, May 24

Voicing his joy over the big victory of ‘nationalism’ in the Lok Sabha elections, former Union Minister Chaman Lal Gupta hoped that many wrongs inflicted on the patriotic people of J&K would be rectified and the state would be treated like other parts of the country.

In a statement issued here on Friday, Gupta pointed out that an Indian soldier from outside comes to defend the frontiers and fights the cross-border terror and also renders a helping hand to people of J&K, but he cannot get even an inch of land for himself and his children even after his martyrdom. “Even the President cannot buy a piece of land in the state because of the separate status granted under Article 370,” he said.

Gupta, who is the author of a book, “Article 370 A Thorn”, said the provision was included in the Constitution despite opposition by all nationalists, including then Law Minister BR Ambedkar.
